A single scroll through Pinterest sparked inspiration and motivation to try something new. I put out a request for an adventurous couple online, and Tressa and Adam stepped up for the challenge. Just like that, I had a couple willing to jump on an air mattress and float out onto a lake. It was a dreamy and unexpected start to what would eventually lead to their fall wedding at Vintage Venue.
Before the day of our adventure session arrived, Adam proposed. Tressa said yes, and our little couple session turned into a whimsical and unique newly engaged session. When the day finally arrived, I couldn’t wait to capture this newly engaged couple as they cozied up and brought my vision to life.

Later, when reflecting on that first session, Tressa shared, “We loved Grace because she’s so genuine and sweet. I don’t know how to pose, I just feel so awkward in front of a camera, but she’s so kind and good at explaining. We both enjoyed our first experience with how comfortable she made us feel.”
We all left the session having had so much fun, and absolutely in love with the photos. Before Tressa and Adam left, they asked if we could schedule engagement photos and, eventually, capture their dream fall wedding.
Let the Planning Begin: A Vintage Venue Wedding
Soon after, Adam and Tressa were in a full-blown wedding planning season. They looked to me for help on many of the details! And ultimately, they trusted me to capture their wedding day vision. I am always honored and so grateful when brides show this kind of trust! Creative juices get flowing and my work becomes art!
Being along the ride for their engagement meant that I was able to help them from start to finish! This is something I love doing for all my couples!
Tressa had big dreams of a cozy autumn celebration, and their fall wedding in Nebraska at Vintage Venue brought her vision to life. Her long-curated Pinterest board alongside her mom’s eye for “good finds” made every detail well thought out and stunning. Tressa explained, “It was stressful, but so cool to take these images you think about for so long and bring them to life. Adam had huge input on our decorations and how to incorporate our favorite things together. For example, we both like music, so for our guest book, guests signed thrifted records.”

See what I mean about every single detail?!
But for these two, their wedding meant much more than just the decoration and festivities. “We kept telling each other, ‘The decor is beautiful, and it’s fun doing the materialistic things, getting the wedding dress, etc… but at the end of the day, it’s about marrying your significant other and becoming one.’”

A Romantic Fall Wedding
Adam and Tressa’s fall wedding in Nebraska was everything they dreamed of—warm, heartfelt, and perfectly set at Vintage Venue. Guests traveled from all over! One of the most meaningful moments was when Tressa’s grandmother arrived. “I wasn’t sure if she was able to come, but right before I was going to walk down the aisle, I saw my grandma walk in. I knew I was going to cry on my wedding day, but just couldn’t hold it in when I saw my grandma. I started crying right away. Celebrating our marriage and spending time together with the whole family one last time was so precious. Grandma was smiling the whole time.”

Family was at the heart of the celebration, from joyful little moments to the big ones. Tressa even laughed later about her lost wedding bag being found just before the first look, saying, “Grace is great at capturing those little moments that nobody thinks of capturing, and now I can tell my future kids, ‘Don’t lose your bag like I did on my wedding day!’” With autumn details surrounding them and their family gathered to pray, Adam and Tressa’s day ended with dancing, desserts, and heartfelt toasts—a Vintage Venue wedding full of love.
A Year After Their Fall Wedding in Nebraska: A New Chapter and a Magazine Feature
Their first anniversary was celebrated in a new state and a new season of life. They moved to Georgia so Adam could pursue his career in film, a huge and scary jump. In the last year, they say they’ve learned “how to lean into each other for everything, with no family or friends around, we have no choice but to grow closer together.”
Another big surprise awaited them in October! Right around their 1st wedding anniversary, their wedding photo won a spot on the front of Nebraska Wedding Day’s magazine. “I heard of the magazine, and I think I even purchased one of them when I was wedding planning, but I didn’t know about the contest. The venue nominated us, but then knowing that we won is so cool. We thought it was so cool to display your work, but also to highlight our beautiful day.” They hope this feature inspires other couples as they start thinking about and planning their wedding days.

Whenever they’re back, I look forward to seeing them at The Mill to catch up on all the things life has brought them. Their wedding photos and album are a collection I am proud to deliver.
